Thank you for waiting, now I give you - Tao Lang by Loonie featuring Quest. I remember hearing this song for the first time last year at Loonie's spot. He sang me the hook, and it was his exact sentiments at that time. People were grilling him about not participating in Fliptop friends and fans alike. He just had a change of lifestyle the past few years - from being relatively known, to be being crowned underground king to being harassed and put in a pedestal by fans. From making new friends, losing close ones - and seeing people burn out before him, it really took a toll on him. He played it for me, and while I thought you can already sum up things using the hook - he managed to squeezed in a couple of quotables.

Tao Lang is produced by Klumcee, one of the most slept on producers of our time. Was recorded at the FlipMusic Studio and was mixed and mastered by non other than Bojam himself.

I will also rightfully divulge to my readers now that Sony Music Philippines is closing business this month. Loonie's recording contract is being debated on and being negotiated. Releasing this song is to showcase our confidence in our products and to save the fans the hassle of waiting, as negotiations occur.

Its not often we hear the change we can make on peoples life through our presence, so whenever we have the chance to - we take advantage of being the mediums of love and life that we truly are. Manny Pacquiao gets his hands on a fresh act, DRP (Dirty Room Productions) - and the group will ride it out! Releasing their debut album in the next few weeks, with a ringabck business on the way, DRP are poised to show you a different side of Pinoy Hiphop. I was given the chance to hear the album a few weeks before its release and all I can say is that even with its technical flaws, it has managed to showcase the fun side of hiphop and fuse pop tunes, fun lyrics and R&B vocals into a well rounded album for everyone to enjoy!

Relatively unknown act within the scene, DRP is the winner of the MTV Emerge contest a few years back. With the addition of Gods Will to the fold, DRP - has been doing what its been doing for so long, make music to the best of their talents and get noticed by the right people. Early last year, Pino G and Gods Will released "Pinoy Hollywood" and had a single on the radio via Wave 89.1 - this early they were able to determine the winning mix to get DRP as the group to promote.

DRP's video is directed by Nino Muhlach with other suprise cameos.

The only flaw of the album is the kicks. Personally there are songs where I wanted to hear bigger drums other than that - the album is well produced. Most of the tracks are produced by Pino G. The songs are well introduced and the delivery is filled with confidence showing how experienced these mcs are in recording. Songs like "Eba" - an ode to sinister ladies, "Telepono", "Extravaganza", the Manny Pacquiao anthem "Saludo Sa Hari", the patriotic "Ipaglalaban Ko" - which showcases heartfelt lyrics from the team, are runaway winners for best songs of the album.

I advise you to pick up this album and see the growth of these grown men. You will like most of the tracks, the verses are very candid but the hooks are on point. I caught their performance at BSides and they rock complete with dancers to enunciate their songs into the audience and bring life to the game. It also helps that they aren't heavily affiliated with your more known hiphop acts, makes you look at them as one of the freshest acts of the year - dont just look at them as Manny's newest venture, look at them as the artists that they are individually and collectively.

I must say, if you still think local hiphop is about to blow up - I mean wow, you are a caveman and definitely a good 2 years behind. Hiphop is definitely breakingthrough right now. Sasabog and hip -- nah, its already has. Events like this, Konektado x Brgy Tibay year ender is what its really about. Giving people an event they can own and participate in and not be always a fan, outside looking in.

We put up 20K for MCs to have a wonderful Christmas - knowing that hiphop gives back. That at the end of the day, mainstream doesn't always pay - its relevance that really pays. We can redirect our attention to skills and having fun. Its amazing to see the likes of Kamikaze, Fliptop heads, Stick Figgas, Cosmic Love and others share the venue knowing that we've shared this stage several times. Rock didn't outshine hiphop this night and vice versa.

The Sunugan 2011 year ender Battle Royale Champion was Righteous One. Well deserved. If you don't know him - he's one of the most avid fans of this shit -- and last night the spotlight was on him. No one took the spotlight from him and he lived up to it - bagging the cash prize and new found respect from his co MCs. And neegi if you didn't know, he won this tournament on a wheel chair.

Reg Rubio, spearheading the donation drive for Sendong victims through Rock Ed - was a success. People from the Asiong Salonga movie was able to help raise 20K through this event. Hiphop definitely has heart - and this night displayed it best. I think it was last year, I went to see Skarm to purchase his CD and chop it up. I was telling him I exceptionally liked a track which was not included in the CD. The song was "Virus Latency" featured below - and what blew me away was the rhymes, the music and this girl who to me was relatively unknown. Skarm then proceeded to tell me more about her, that she is no newbie in the scene - that she actually is under contract by a record label and had an album out. I nodded in curiosity. Today, I unlock this door for you guys, Mikki Hahn released an album under Viva. The album has its ups and downs - but I will tell you this, she is blessed with a good sense of music in her. Basing from her recent collaboration with Skarm and the highlights in her album - I look forward to the next songs she's going to put out. Today, I'm letting you hear her rendition of one of the most underrated Rivermaya x Bamboo Manalac song "If". The most anticipated album launch of the year, this coming 11.11.11

Did I tell you we are giving away a pair of Creative Recreation shoes? All you have to do is purchase the CD and we will raffle out the names of the cd buyers. Please bear in mind that if your name gets called and you aren't there to claim it, we will draw another winner. I also heard that Unschooled at Ronac will be selling the CDS starting at 4pm, so for people who can't stay out long on the 11th can buy the cd early, this would also be the perfect time to take pictures with Rjay, hehehehe. I heard all the songs in Rjays Mixtape and I must say its pretty impressive. Hits and misses on the album are:

1. "Only The Strong" song is an amazing song.
2. The beat for Visions of a Hustler REMIX is nothing you're used to hearing.
3. J-Heez steals the spotlight from Rjay in one song.
4. "Finish This Love Song" Rjay's verses displays a maturely structured song.
5. "High" definitely is the banger in this album. SPNZ is a revelation in this album!
6. "Sleepover" would've been better with a slick bassline.
7. "Wordplay" is the funkiest Bojam beat I've heard! Best Ninks verse I've heard!
8. "FFF" is that track that will bury doubts on Rjay as an MC.
9. "Genesis" provides a super dope Jonan Aguilar verse. And the Ruby Ibarra guest verse is crazy, but I would've wanted her to rock on a beat similar to "FFF"; all love though, her verse still displayed everything we give her props for!

Thats all I'm going to share at this point. See you kids on friday! Lastly, don't forget that you can also download the album for free on friday! Amazing surprise tracks awaits the people who can't be physically with us during the launch. Also, Rjay just shot the music video for the June Marieezy assisted track "Catch You", directed by the great Dominic Nuesa. Will post some behind the scenes photos on my next entry.

Oooh, I heard Drake's new album Take Care leaked today. Go go go. In other news, Urban Athletics and Creative Recreation gives you the very first single dropped by Rjay this year. "First Love" was first seen and heard HERE. Bojam re-worked and re-mastered the track and will be included in the coming album to be released this friday. This song also got super love from WAVE 89.1 and got much needed airplay.

Rumor is the listening party for the album is on thursday at KYSS.

First up to bat is Lloyd from Skarms label - The Pharm. Lloyd has slowly been penetrating the psyche of fans - from appearing in Fliptop battles, performing with Skarm - blessing Soul Fillet freestyle sessions. Lloyd is also the younger brother of now States based emcee M-Knocks. 2nd we have, Thyro of the new group - 5Th Wave Theory. Thyro is currently holding the title as the only OPM song to hit number 1 on WAVE 89.1 via the huge song "The Kiss"; a duet with Yumi. Thyro and Yumi just handed over the album they recorded to Viva, and we are awaiting a release date for them already. Lastly - we have One3D, of the formidable group Audible. One3D is currently based in Canada and his recent visits, we've seen him take on the Fliptop ring and win a couple of battles. One3D blessed our first ever Turbulence release - B-Sides which we launched last Nov 29, 2005 with a verse on a Chrizo beat and was actually the bonus track from the same cd with a song called "Letter To The President". The Last Emperor - Secret Wars (Part I)

It's amazing to know that some of the mcs nowadays never listened to this shit. This is a classic song that has some vivid imagery if you really like your 90's hiphop. The Last Emperor is still one of my favorites - this joint made Dr. Dre sign him into Aftermath, but just like Rakim signing to the A - Dre didn't know how to push this lyrical act to greatness.

Today, and its gonna be a long weekend for everyone - here's a 5 minute classic where TLE pushes the idea to the pen - Marvel characters up against your favorite hiphop MCS. And not just that, TLE switches his voice and cadence to match the characters - check the Common, Das Efx and Busta Rhymes - unheard of. Storm vs Lauryn Hill? Reggie Noble vs Hulk? Method Man vs Wolverine? And to cap it off, Peter Parker vs. Nasir Jones.

And everybody who knows me knows I'm a comic book head, and in the 90's Jim Lee was my hero. So hearing this song just made me love hiphop more. It showed me how intricate hiphop can be and how far hiphop can reach. That hiphop is whatever it is an MC pushes his pen to, no borders. Its a crazy record, trust me.

Shoutouts to @Lockeroomlegend, follow him on Twitter. It's no secret that I've been a fan of J.Cole since day one. My favorite J.Cole track still has got to be "I Get Up" from the Warm Up Mixtape. Last September 29 I stepped into the legendary HMV store in Singapore - and purchased J.Coles debut CD "Cole World: The Sideline Story". In line with supporting this artist, I will giving away 2 original J.Cole cds to my blog readers next month. I will be reviewing the cd - trust me that I've been listening to it for a good month. I only have this cd in my car - ask Chrizo & Jess.

Today, with the release on "Lost Ones" music video I write some thoughts on it. In the same vein as Common and Lauryn Hill's "Retrospect For Life" track released in 1997, J.Cole picks up where Common and Lauryn left of; reminscent of Nas' song "Power" as well where the MC picks on the perspective of another subject. One of the more insightful rap songs of 2011. Lost Ones embodies a great message of perspective. Remember that no one really is prepared to start a family nowadays. As the video states, it was shot in 2008 and carefully made its way out today - which immediately tells you, J.Cole been getting ready for his time under the spotlight even before his deal fell into place. Kudos to him and his team! Dreamville!

The first verse is a conversation from the mans perspective, a more lost perspective and trying to piece up the puzzle. Men play games, and naturally when we hit a road block its instinctive to see how to out do the next play that'll benefit us. The issue of readiness is pointed out - and the logic a man carries even through sensitive issues are taken as hurtful ones.

The killer verse here that takes the song and the idea to another level is the 2nd verse where J.Cole embodies the perspective of the expecting woman. Cole's delivery remains crisp however adjusting his voice to create the 2nd character. We want strong women in the world, and this 2nd verse reiterates that fact - that only strong men get to hold strong women. And the character flips on the guy, telling him how he said he won't be the type of parent that his father was to him.

It's crazy how the 3rd verse balances it out with both women and men's perspectives - and how devious our thoughts and society is playing this situation. On one hand, we have the guy doing everything he can to nail this chick and the girl succumbs to the his tricks. On the other hand, we have girls who deliberately give it up to get pregnant and nail a good catch. Any girl who denies this is crazy.

Great song all in all, and the beautiful thing about this is we are all judged. That J.Cole placed all angles to the point where you see a piece of yourself in the song. Nothing is ever absolute in this situation and the song gives you exactly what you're thinking of, staring out the window knowing you're expecting your first child and not being ready for it.
