EASTWOOD CENTRAL PLAZA, WE ROCKED YOU.
October 21 recap -- me and my A&R PHD got out of the house around 230PM to pick up pictures from my brother Ryan, we had alot of things we had to cover in the short time that we had left before the launch. And despite you thinking it was a dope show, we didn't get to do 100% of what we planned to do due to unforeseen events and just exhaustion. Around 3PM we picked Quest up from Robinson's Galleria -- he of course bought new Adidas Superstars for the launch. Keepin' it fresh like we always do.
Understand that this night is owned by more than one person. The energy that was built to hype up this launch was 11 years in the making. You can feel it and smell it in the Manila breeze that something different was meant to happen this night. 4PM we hit the sound check with Portable Sounds at the venue -- 7PM, we headed to the new Eastwood City Mall, Event Factory which served as the venue for some early cocktails, finger food and the press conference. The press conference was hosted by Speedy G of Music Update Live fame. Quest was interviewed by the host of his background and Quest gave back the gratitude of being embraced by the industry to his peers. Jumbo "Bojam" De Belen of Flip Music was in attendance alongside his wife and Ninks; Mike Swift, J-Hon, Dominic Nuesa, Abby Asistio, Rex D, JR, Chrizo, Margaux Cortez, Ryan Andres, Cristina were all there in support of Quest. A Q&A portion ensued as the press through relevant questions at Quest, and with every impressive answer, true to form -- Quest made a lasting impression of positiveness, talent, vision, passion and love to the press.

KONEKTADO coverage of the album launch of Quest
After the press con, the whole team walked into the concert area seeing the place packed as the seats for the press was lost to the fans eager for the show. As the people got settled and Quest and his band do their final preparations -- Gary V and Quest was interviewed by ABS CBN, this scene had people looking in anxiousness and curiosity on what the show and the artist headlining will provide.
Carrying on tradition, OPM music will flourish and be safeguarded
Andi 9 and Jessica of Magic 89.9 hosted the event and kept the audience anticipation high -- as the cue the start of the show via a video teaser that has been floating around the metro since last week. Quest brings people into his world opening with the high energy performance of "Radio Revolution" -- he then rocked "Bagong Bayan" and gave Dick Gordon his due props and I quote Quest "He will go down as one of the countries best leaders" -- he they wooed the crowd with "Pagbabago" -- which is being debated to be his 3rd single.
Song after song, he threaded the hearts of people and pulled out a couple of surprises. Quest then brought out hiphop's Illegitimate Kings to share the stage. Quest performed Burno Mars' Just The Way You Are with PHD, a freestyle session on stage that saw Abra, Datu, Rex D, Apekz and Knowa Lazarus give the audience their due share of Quest's hiphop background. Quest then brought in Yeng Constantino to do their rendition of B.O.B.'s Airplanes -- Mike Swift came and rocked the 2nd verse and then bringing out Loonie to rock a 16 which brought the house down. At this point, the entire place was buzzing with energy showing people that hiphop in Pinas has finally arrived at a place where our musicianship is respected and is gaining entertainment value across peoples misconceptions. The Jeepney Love Story REMIX by Yeng & Quest was performed to the surprise of the Yeng Constantino fans!
Quest then moved the crowd and kept then within arms reach, touching the people throughout his last few songs. "BACK TO LOVE" saw people singing along and while singing his 2nd single "PARTY LIFE" -- he then breaks down the song to a blend of Shout For Joy -- and without hesitation, inviting Mr. Pure Energy himself to the stage to sing his song. At this point, the entire plaza was seeing a very historic moment in OPM. Where we meet the old and new half way, with style and grace and when we make OUR PIONEERS OUR FANS BY SHOWING THEM HOW WE ARE TAKING CARE OF THEIR LEGACY. Seeing Quest perform and Gary V taking a back seat to let Quest enjoy his shine is a blessing to all struggling artists in the country.
Quest then closes the show via "YOU AND ME" -- if you have the album and you notice that during the last parts of the song he would just commence into thanking people, he did the same thing too. Going down the stage and bringing the microphone around and just shaking hands with his peers and fans alike. Making sure that the people understand that an artists goal is to be heard and upon this kind of attention, it is important that you give the same love back to your audience. Longevity in the local music scene is unheard of these days -- and it took an 11 year journey to make this album, Quest secures his artistry in the hearts of those who patiently waited for him to get to this night.
The night ended with people buying his cd and lining up for his signature -- a very thriving and hopeful scene that showed that the performing arts of music is what drives the CD sales and not the marketing value of the act.
THE REVOLUTION IS HERE. JOIN THE QUEST.
