ILL K Entry 71 "The Most Anticipated"

MAY122005A

PHD - The Most Anticipated (Produced by Traumatik)

Check the picture, circa 2005 -- Club V, Prolifik's birthday celebration. This was the year we provoked the scene into believe we were legit torch bearers of the game. The year where we showed the veterans that we are capable of carrying on tradition. More than that, this year showed what kind of firepower and brilliance each act was independently and as a whole. Don't front, you know WE got you open. We filled their shows, learning and re-learning, shifting our pivots and qualifying our decisions. I guess you can say it, people who had vision back in 2005 are STILL in the mix opening doors -- and arguably building more blocks for future foundations than ever before.

PHD's song The Most Anticipated which appeared on the Knowledge Born free giveaway CD back in 2007 for The Community show -- was recorded a good year earlier than that. It was spoken that this track was to make the label's first all Turbulence artists compilation which was then entitled "SOUL IMPRESSIONS" -- well that CD never materialized during that time. This would be my favorite Traumatik produced track of all time and well being that I was too jealous about this beat, I still had to jump on it. Yes, yours truly provided the "THIS RIGHT HERE IS THE SHUT DOWN" congos portion of the song. Word up! Traumatik at his finest!

Here's a run down of some of the people in this picture and what they're currently up to now. Just to show you how much we're still putting in work and what progress these people have been giving the scene.

1. Ron Henley - currently MIA but will be hitting the studio for his solo album and the second album of Stick Figgas. Despite his absence, his song "Biglang Liko" is a heavy contender for song of the year this year. Man he's got my niece memorizing the hook on that song!

2. Loonie - The Ones Who Never Made It x FLIPTOP x SUNUGAN BATTLE LEAGUE, need I say more? And all that, just this year.

3. Ryan Andres a.k.a. Psylent - currently taking up the bar exam to fulfill his path as a soon to be lawyer. Last seen performing for the BEATBOX ROUNDUP dispatching keys while beatboxing.
