PARTY PILIPINAS x KONEKTADO.COM
Mike Swift makes his Party Pilipinas debut with Jaano Gibbs & Elmo Magalona
REX D x MARGAUX CORTEZ " FOLLOW MY LEAD"
When you are in the presence of vets, best to take notes -- and don't forget to ask questions. I met REX D last year, hit me up to buy a True School shirt. He told me he raps and aspires to make an album -- I asked him if he played ball and told him to suit up for a Team Sunday session. When you get an invite like that, its an invite to learn and network with what possibly could be the most non-political atmosphere in this hiphop shit. And true to form, he used his ear more than his mouth. I vouched for him when I told Bojam to give dude a try -- and well having a studio session with beat monsters Flip Music is bound to give you a giant step into this playing field.
Rex D joined the Sunugan Battles, working his way through the right people. Performed at Soul Fillet and recently performed at the first FLIP FRIDAYS at Bella Bar. News is he is locking a deal with clothing brand, GroupedeVille - good job lil homie!
The song is called Follow My Lead, showing that despite his newness to the game, he done been putting in work - and has the best efficiency ratio, he has yet to fail and translates you to follow his lead, to do the work behind the dream. From what I heard as well, Rex D sent this song to Margaux and that Margaux wrote the hook in no less than 2 minutes. It's nice to see Margaux and Rex work together cause for me, they are starting a new batch of artists and seeing this collaboration early on is great for both their future catalog.
I also, want to point out that I got a copy of this track when it was 80 percent done and hearing the final version I gotta tell you - Bojam's musical IQ is off the charts. If you heard the raw track and the finished product you'd know what I mean. Craazy!! Perfect way to start your week.
How ironic is it to have a new school MC tell you to follow his lead? Rex D debut album coming soon entitled "THE FRESHMAN" -- he's gonna be at the WAVE URBAN MUSIC AWARDS next week cheering the FLIP MUSIC x TURBULENCE team on!
ITS BETTER THAN WATCHING TV.

LOONIE x FREDO BATTLE?
US based Filipino Battle MC FREDO challenges Loonie
I was with Loonie yesterday and we spoke about this video from Fredo. All I can say is, its going to be interesting when this goes down. Good conditions and these are conditions I dont see Loonie backing down from, so lets see how it unfolds. There are several things Loonie is busy with -- a possible album and management deal with Sony and locking down certain deals this week. But Loonie as expressed his excitement to be able to meet Fredo in the battle field. Lets all see how this pans out. Good looking out!!

CHRIZO MAGNIFICO x PRAVERB
Chrizo Magnifico JAN 2011 WEEKLY BEAT ENTRY - PARA KAY QUEEN T. MARIE
We all know Chrizo Magnifico as one of the best PI has as far as beat making. Constantly dorky and constantly perfecting his craft. He has released Thinking Man's Hiphop, GRAE, Logic For Reason in the past 2 years and have been working on soon to be classics for AMP, Aero and the Nimbusnine album. He recently fell in love with the WEEKLY BEATS SESSION - an online forum for producers who can showcase their craft through sampling. This adamant student of the game has garnered interest for that site -- recruiting PI's best to jump on the sample crazed event week after week. Here's a look into the recently concluded interview with him via Praverb's Blog.
PRAVERB: First and foremost can you provide a brief bio about your journey as a beatmaker.
CHRIZO: I have to credit my brother ILL-J for starting me off on my journey in hip-hop music. He was part of a well known hip-hop group called Sun Valley Crew (SVC) which started back in 1995. They released two albums during the 90s. I was heavily influenced by them and I tagged along their shows while I was still part of a garage band back then. I started making beats with a keyboard which I recorded onto a cassette tape. Then I did beats on the Music Generator game for the playstation1 which I also recorded onto cassette. Eventually, my brother and his group mates took me in and showed me the ropes on how to use ACID PRO. I used ACID pro for a good 7 to 8 years making several albums and mixtapes with my group Turbulence productions. Now I use Reason. I use the same CASIO keyboard I started making beats with as a midi trigger now.
PRAVERB: The first time you made a beat was in...
CHRIZO: 1998. It was on the CASIO keyboard I mentioned. It was out of sync and the quality was poor but I was still trying to be like DJ Premier nonetheless. I had no metronome. I recorded drums on cassette, re-record the drums plus other elements on another cassette tape. Just back and forth between two cassette tapes till the beat got done. It wasn't much, but that was the spark that started it all.

DEAR RADIO x FRANCIS M
I recently unearthed a Francis Magalona letter, tucked into the single he was promoting in anticipation for his final album F-WORD. When you buy 2 FMCC shirts, you get the cd for free - a limited edition CD. I worked with Mr. Magalona on the first 2 singles, and after the first one - he had asked how to make it interesting for the fan. I told him to add a letter to maybe give the audience a deeper understanding behind the music, behind the making and the current thought process of a Francis M. This letter dated December 1 2008 - is an open reminder to the radio industry and how Francis Magalona viewed the system despite being one of the marquee acts in this land.
Greetings!
Welcome to the new style of music sharing that I have devised for the sole purpose of fighting a system that is fraudulent, inaccurate and fragile.
Many years have passed since my first recording contract back in 1987, and now 21 years to that day, the system of making music is still pretty much the same. You record, you make a product, big company pays to publish and release your product, and they pay radio management to play your product. It is up to the radio djs (and their respective station managers) to decide what will be a “hit” and what to put in the bench. Whether it becomes a hit or not, your product ends in the record bars, sales are slow because your song has been copied and is now downloadable on a program that connects to the internet.
It is a losing war my friends. I released my first single “Sino Magsasabi” and I tried to get it played on the radio stations and only a couple of times has it been played on a station or two, in which the djs are my friends.
I don’t care if radio plays me or not. What I care about is that this product gets in your hands, and you, my friend get to listen to it. And enjoy it.
I give these things for free, in tandem with a cross marketing scheme to sell my t-shirts as well. Buy 2 shirts, you get these limited, 2500 only, serially numbered discs. There will be 8 singles, and if you put the cds together you get an image which many of you will treasure. It is a self portrait. It is my gift to you.
These mp3 singles that you have are very innovative in a way as they have music, pictures and documents inside them for you to browse. Look inside each cd and you might find some easter egg loaded with goodies like remixes, bonus tracks, audio files, video files and even some photography and artwork of mine.
When these 8 singles are complete, I shall release a box-set cd special, and the files will be in full audio files and not mp3s anymore for a fuller experience. It will come with a commemorative poster and maybe, even a shirt. Good luck my friend.
Once again thank you for being there for me since my start in the business. I shall never forget your support, and that is why I decided to go against the system and get my music to you. I know this ingenuity of mine will be a template for others to follow. Enjoy this ride, it’s gonna be quite a trip.
Mabuhay!
Francis M.
NOTE: I dont know if FMCC was ever able to fully service this product because of his untimely death. But I would like to see the portrait with someone someday.
