It was but right for his management and record label to launch his album with a definite goal of keeping his fan base happy!

Last February 24, I had the chance to catch his launch at the Eastwood Plaza. In true fan empowering fashion, the event was free of charge -- which all the more showed how much following Gloc has. I came in time to see Sly Kane and Pow Chavez rock their set in preparation for the main event. Sly Kane made sure that fans and even by passers know that the Philippine audience is one of the hardest to please, most especially for a hiphop act - which truly is a testament of success knowing what's going to erupt next.

Gloc 9 takes the stage with Brigada to perform Martilyo -- Brigada learned the piece 2 days before the event, and if you dont know what Brigada is about, well you wont read about it here, Brigada is enjoyed live. I must say, that bringing these caliber of guest to his launch is a showcase of growth for Gloc's live performances. He brought out Aiza Siguerra and Mike Villegas, Sheng Belmonte, Jaq Dionisio of Kiss Jabe, Dex Yu of Letter Day Story, Aia De Leon of Imago, Tanya Markova and despite these names being more familiar than his -- he was never out shun, hiphop held it down that night amidst all the musicians, songwriters, arrangers that were present at the show and in the album.

One of the shining moments of this launch was when Gloc brought out Elmo Magalona for a rendition of Three Stars and a Sun by the late Francis Magalona. Elmo kept on yelling on the mic, "Gloc 9 Represent Y'all" -- and it is what the whole idea of hiphop is, what are we bringing to the table? And Gloc answered it all night, with all humility. We are carrying tradition, I dont know if people saw it, but from time to time -- Gloc played various music videos of his while performing -- and there were times, due to the Lando video -- Francis M was sharing the stage with him. Those moments gave me goosebumps.

I saw Kane, Klumcee, Team FMCC, Team Gloc 9 -- came out to support our number one vote getter, our number song maker, our number one spokesperson in local hiphop despite him not being a mad of many words -- and I am proud to tell you, Gloc has traveled long and far to see through any of his dreams come true and it is a lesson he always imparts, that he isn't all that - he is exactly what we can be, he just managed to put all his luck together into a machine of opportunities. After the show, Gloc still did numerous back stage interviews, catered to his guests and had enough energy to come out and sign CDs and post of pictures.

To Gloc 9, congratulations on another successful album. Congratulations to Sony Music Philippines for continuously supporting a new breed of local hiphop acts, I know you're board room is excited to whats to come for hiphop. Soupstar for using Gloc 9's talent to the best of what he can offer, congratulations. To Thea Pollisco, congratulations and I acknowledge and admire how you always played the perfect team player for Gloc's pursuit of his life long dream.
